What our guests say
We’ve been welcoming guests to La Borie Grande and Le Chataignier for more years than we can remember and have met some really lovely people. The feedback we receive season after season makes it all worthwhile. We hope one day we can add yours too.

Beautiful property, well located for exploring the Dordogne and Lot
Property is set in a lovely location on the edge of Villefrance du Perigord. The property is well equipped and has everything that you could need. In addition to the sheltered and secluded pool area, there are a number of places to enjoy an evening glass of wine after a day’s exploring. Highlights like canoeing on the Dordogne, Beynac, Castelnaud, Sarlat, Chateau de Bonaguil etc are all very easily reachable. Really appreciated the warm welcome and generous initial supplies from Tracy and family. Definitely somewhere we would recommend and would be happy to return to.
This was the second time we have stayed here. Everything was fantastic, from the house to the pool to Tracy (the owner), and the weather!!
We had a great time. We have two children aged 9 and 7 and there is plenty of activities on site for them. Tracy is super friendly, and nothing is too much trouble for her. She even helped us with our dodgy BBQ-ing skills!
The house is fully equipped with everything you could need and more, and the outside areas are superb
The local village has two small supermarkets, two bakeries and a couple of cafes. It is beautiful and quaint. We enjoyed getting fresh bread every morning.
I would recommend this place to anyone wishing to have a relaxing holiday.

Wonderful house, grounds, location and hosts
We enjoyed a wonderful week at La Borie Grande. We were an extended family group and the size of the house, different areas outside, and the gardens meant that we all felt we had plenty of space to enjoy together, or alone! The local town is lovely, and Tracy and family couldn’t be more helpful hosts. A week just wasn’t long enough!
An absolute gem!
We booked this property by the beautiful photographs and were amazed when we arrived just how stunning it is in real life! The house is just fantastic! The rooms are huge all with outstanding views over the countryside. The outside space was beyond our expectations, from the gardens to the outside pizza oven and bbq area to the gorgeous decking that we spent many a night sat watching the sunset while sampling the local vin! Having our own private swimming pool was fantastic and it was always spotlessly clean. Tracy and her family are so lovely and helpful, they went above and beyond to help us plan trips and were even there in an instant when we couldn’t light the pizza oven. Please don’t hesitate to book this wonderful property, you will not regret it!

On arrival, we were kindly greeted by Tracy and a wonderful ‘Welcome Pack’. The house is absolutely stunning. All the rooms are large and spacious as are the grounds which are kept so immaculate.
Our first week was my husband and I and our 4 children, aged from 4-16 yrs old. There was so much on site to keep them all occupied with a fab park, badminton and boules courts, and the endless walks in the woods and chasing after the butterflies and squirrels in the garden – it was hard to drag them away to see the sites around.
Coming back to the pool was such a delight! It is completely safe being fenced and gated and a hedge all around so you are totally private.
My parents joined us for our 2nd week and loved chilling out in all the shady places for ‘book reading’ and spending the evenings chatting while cooking on the bbq and watching the amazing sunsets and we have never seen so many stars!!!
We all agreed we have never enjoyed a holiday so much or felt as relaxed.
Thank you so much x
Beautiful with breath taking views
The Borie Grande was beautiful and clean with everything you could wish for and more. The pool area was perfect – safe for the kids (4 and 5) and relaxing for the adults. The views from the house are amazing and the dining area over looking the forest and hills was picture perfect. There was plenty to do in the local area (the caves in padirac definitely worth a visit) and the fact that the house was a 10min walk to the gorgeous town was perfect.
Tracy and her family were helpful, friendly and on hand if we needed anything, but the way in which the house was situated it felt like we were the only ones there.
I loved it and can see why Tracy has settled there in that perfect part of France.
Thank you for such a fab holiday.

Fantastic family holiday at La Borie Grande
We had a fantastic family holiday at La Borie Grande! Perfect for the toddlers as pool not at all accessible without adult present. Quite surroundings with fab local amenities and activities. Rural and away from it all, this was the perfect spot. Plenty to explore or just stay local and enjoy. Tracy and family were so welcoming and literature all very personal and insightful local knowledge which was super helpful. Night markets a must and very helpful local tourist office in Villefranche. Easy commute from Bergerac. Stunning local scenery. Villa is very well kept and lovingly restored, and owners mindfully unintrusive and easy going. Was lovely to have them close for questions if we had them. Highly recommend.
From our initial enquiry through to our departure Tracy and her family helped to make our holiday such a memorable and relaxing 2 weeks. We arrived to a heatwave that lasted the 2 weeks but the house was a cool retreat and the pool was brilliant. There are many beautiful oak pergolas and shaded areas and the views and gardens are spectacular and beautifully maintained. It is a short walk into the town which is very picturesque. We would like to thank the whole family at La Borie Grande for sharing their home with us and being such wonderful hosts.
This was our 1st visit to the Dordogne and we couldn’t have chosen a better property. My wife and 3 children fell in love with place. The house was beautiful, spacious and VERY clean! The grounds around the property are georgous and kept the children entertained for hours, especially with the fab play park – they never wanted to visit anywhere else! The pool was wonderful to relax in and we had lots of fun playing ball games and even had a midnight swim under the stars!!
As it is a kilometre from the road, it is so safe and peaceful we really will be marking this one for a re-visit!!
The owners are so lovely and welcoming without being intrusive and helped us out when we needed any info!!
Thank you for letting us share your piece of France with us.

Peace and Tranquility Assured
We returned to this wonderful location for the second time. The house was immaculately clean, extremely spacious and comfortable with three very good sized bedrooms, two excellent shower rooms and a lovely bathroom downstairs. The kitchen was very well equipped and the availability of UK/TV and WiFi were an added bonus. Where La Borie Grande is truly fantastic is in the lovely landscaped areas around the house, providing a range of outdoor eating areas, giving sun or shade in complete privacy and with stunning views over the valley. The addition of the new pool pavilion is a wonderful place to relax after cooling down in the crystal clear pool which is maintained daily. As always, Tracy and family were on hand if required without intruding on our privacy. I cannot recommend the property or owners highly enough
This was our seventh stay at these wonderful gites, so I think that says it all.
Our family of four including two young children have holidayed all over France but as soon as we found the gites, that was it and now we are hooked.
They are so quiet and secluded and are so child friendly. The pool is incredible with its own oak pavilion which is perfect for escaping the sun when it gets too hot. The gites are really cool inside and are absolutely spotless.
The village is a 10 minute stroll down the lane and is beautiful.
There are some beautiful attractions round about and canoeing down the Dordogne is a must. Tracy and her family are so helpful and live just down the hill so are on hand if you need anything.
Overall I can’t rate this place any higher, so give this place a try and I promise you’ll get hooked just like we did…see you soon Tracy!!
Paradise in the SW of France
We have spent holidays in the South West of France for over 20 years now and we have to rate this property as one of the best. The location was absolutely perfect; beautiful views and many different places to sit and sip wine and we loved being entertained by the family of red squirrels or the family’s dogs (an optional facility – we’d recommend it!). The family was discretely on hand in case we had required any additional items (we did not, of course!), however we chose to chat to our lovely hosts and really enjoyed their company. The super little bastide was within walking distance and had various lovely eateries, and atmospheric places to have an aperitif and watch the world go by. This area has so many interesting and beautiful sites to visit for visitors of all ages, yet the gite offers great entertainment such as table tennis, boules, volley ball, trampoling and more, so if you need to recharge your batteries whilst keeping everybody happy, this is for you. Oh, and of course, what a beautiful, private pool to escape the heat. Would we recommend this property to others? Absolutely, however let us book again first..
Full of character, well equipped, relaxed
Our whole family loved it here. The pool was great and everyone felt completely at home and relaxed. Tracy and her family were incredibly helpful and very welcoming. There is loads to do in the surrounding area – canoeing, night markets for lovely local food, treepark for the kids. But relaxing by the pool with a movie in the evening was just as fun. You can do as little or as much as you want to. We would love to come back!
An unforgettable holiday – you will want to return
Tracy is the most welcoming host I have ever met! From the moment we arrived to the day we left she made us feel completely welcome and at home. I have no faults at all, the gite was absolutely beautiful, the swimming pool was perfect for my boys as well as the play park, and the peace and tranquility at night was just what we needed! There is a village a 10 minute walk away which has everything you could want, or a short drive takes you to some bigger towns if you want to do a bit more serious shopping! We have already booked to come back next June!
